Maine Forward Borggaard makes NCAA Commitment

The Maine Nordiques of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Austin Borggaard has committed to play NCAA hockey for Oswego State in the SUNYAC.
The Worcester, Massachusetts, native will join the Lakers in New York this upcoming fall. Borggaard played his age-out season of junior hockey with the Maine Nordiques in the East Division. The 6-foot lefty led his team on the scoresheet in every offensive category. Borggaard scored a team-leading 24 goals, 31 assists, and 55 points in 50 games played. The ‘05 skater recorded over a point per game for the East Division club and featured a Nordiques-leading +27 rating on the ice. His effectiveness on scoring at critical points in contests spotlighted the 21-year-old logging nine game-winning tallies, leading his team in that category as well. Borggaard showed up on the scoresheet routinely for his team, recording a point in 34 out of 50 games played in the regular season.
The 6-foot lefty played a big offensive role in the Nordiques’ hunt for the Robertson Cup in the postseason as Borggaard scored two goals in three playoff games. The Massachusetts native was additionally recognized for his work on the ice during the regular season when he was named an East Division Star of the Week in early January.
Borggaard is one of seven members of the Maine Nordiques to make an NCAA hockey college commitment.
