Shreveport Forward Samango makes NCAA Commitment
The Shreveport Mudbugs of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Joseph Samango has committed to play NCAA hockey for Oswego State in the SUNYAC.
The 21-year-old from Havertown, Pennsylvania, Samango will head to New York to play for the Lakers in the fall. Samango just wrapped up his age-out season with the Shreveport Mudbugs in the South Division. This past season he skated in 53 regular season games, registering 26 points for the Louisiana-based club. The 5-foot-7 right-handed forward scored five goals while producing 21 assists for the Mudbugs. Two of his tallies were scored in game-winning fashion for his team, with one tally notched on the man advantage. In addition to his offensive scoring during regulation and overtime, Samango was effective during shootouts for Shreveport. The ‘05 forward scored four shootout goals this past season.
In the playoffs, Samango tallied a power-play goal for Shreveport in their four postseason games.
The Pennsylvania native joins a strong hockey program at Oswego State, a team that has made 17 NCAA Tournament appearances and won a national championship in 2007.
Samango is one of eight members of the Shreveport Mudbugs to make a college ice hockey commitment.
