Lone Star Defenseman Petersen makes NCAA Commitment

The Lone Star Brahamas of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that defenseman Austin Petersen has committed to play NCAA hockey for the University of Wisconsin-Superior in the WIAC.

The 5-foot-11 righty from Minnesota, Petersen, will head to Wisconsin to skate for the Yellowjackets in the fall. Petersen is a second-year veteran of the League of Opportunity, skating in 94 games across the two seasons. This past year, he started his age-out campaign with the Kenai River Brown Bears. The ‘05 blueliner skated in 33 games for the Midwest Division club and registered 14 points for the team. He lit the lamp on two occasions, both in power-play fashion, and recorded 12 assists. The 20-year-old lefty would then be acquired by the Lone Star Brahmas for the remainder of the season. He would go on to skate in 16 games for the South Division team, notching four assists for them.

In Petersen’s debut year, the 5-foot-11 righty played in 45 contests for the Brown Bears. He was drafted by Kenai River in the 2024 NAHL Entry Draft in the first round. The ‘05 skater notched 10 points in his rookie season, scoring his first junior goal while recording nine assists for the team.

Petersen is one of 13 members of the Lone Star Brahmas to make a college ice hockey commitment.
