Austin Defenseman Perreault makes NCAA Commitment

The Austin Bruins of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that defenseman Alex Perreault has committed to play NCAA hockey for University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in the WIAC.

The 6-foot-8 blueliner from Rochester Hills, Michigan, Perreault will join the Blugolds in the fall. The 21-year-old joined the Bruins in late November following a trade with the Elmira Aviators. He played in 30 regular season games with Austin, recording five points for the team. He scored his first NAHL goal and notched four assists in that span. His work from the blue line helped to lift the Bruins into a postseason run, ending their season in Blaine, Minnesota, for the Robertson Cup. In the playoffs, Perreault recorded an assist in his seven contests played.

Prior to joining the Bruins, he started his season with the Elmira Aviators, lacing up in eight games for the East Division team.

The 6-foot-8 skater explains what it means to earn the opportunity to play college hockey.

“It means everything to continue playing hockey at the collegiate level. It has always been a dream of mine to play college hockey.”

Head coach of the Bruins, Steve Howard, shares his excitement for the defenseman.

“We are very excited for Alex and his family! He came to Austin for the exposure to colleges, and he has earned this opportunity. We are excited to follow his collegiate career.”

Perreault is one of ten members of the Austin Bruins to make a college ice hockey commitment.
