Northeast Defenseman Solari makes NCAA Commitment

The Northeast Generals of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that defenseman Ryan Solari has committed to play NCAA hockey for Roger WIlliams University in the CNE.

The 5-foot-11 lefty from Massachusetts, Solari, will head to Rhode Island to skate with the Hawks in the fall. Solari is a longtime veteran of the Northeast Generals hockey program. He started his junior career in the NA3HL with the Generals. He played 49 games in his rookie season and registered 21 points. He found twine four times while making 17 assists. One of his tallies was scored in game-winning fashion.

Moving into his second season, the ‘05 blueliner played in 42 contests for Northeast’s NA3HL team. He scored 11 goals and made 14 assists for the Generals. Solari recorded 25 points for the Generals in his second year of hockey.

Moving into his age-out season, Solari was drafted by the Generals in the NAHL Entry Draft, earning an opportunity to climb the ladder. The 5-foot-11 lefty played 57 regular season games, registering 16 points from the blue line. He scored a goal and made 15 assists for Northeast. In the postseason, Solari laced up for seven contests, securing an assist.

Solari shares his gratitude for playing for the Northeast Generals during his junior career.

“I couldn’t have imagined a better place to spend my junior career. I have learned how to lead a group and have shown what it means to be a man. As I continue to progress throughout my hockey and academic career, the things I’ve learned and the bonds that I have created during my time at the Generals will continue to serve me long into the future.”

Head coach of the Generals, Bryan Erikson, went into detail on what it means to see Solari take his next steps in his hockey career.

“Ryan is an amazing young man. He came to us three years ago and has been a standout in our organization since the first practice. Ryan had two outstanding years for our NA3HL team under coach Darryl Locke. He did everything Darryl asked of him and more, both on and off the ice. This year, when he made the NAHL team, we were so excited because of what he brings to our team. He brings a winning mentality, leadership, accountability, and great play. He is one of the most popular players on the team. The boys love him because he holds himself accountable and his teammates accountable every day. He plays an aggressive style, never backing down to anyone. He played through injuries and illness. Just a truly great human being, amazing teammate, and very good hockey player. Roger Williams and coach Hall are getting a difference maker, both on and off the ice. We’re really excited for Ryan and his wonderful family.”

Solari is one of 12 members of the Northeast Generals to make a college ice hockey commitment.
