Northeast Forward Hinchsliff makes NCAA Commitment

The Northeast Generals of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Beckett Hinchsliff has committed to play NCAA hockey for  Tufts University in the NESCAC. 

Hinchsliff shares his excitement about joining the college program in the fall.

“I am extremely excited to continue my academic and athletic career at Tufts University. Tufts offers the challenge of high-level academics and elite athletics, which will push me to grow and mature over the next four years. I have built a strong relationship with Coaches Pat Norton and Nick Roberto, and I can’t wait to get started and meet the team. Go Jumbos!”

The 21-year-old from the Windy City, Hinchsliff, will join the Jumbos in Medford, Massachusetts, in the fall. The 6-foot-2 forward started his NAHL career with the El Paso Rhinos following being drafted by the team in the 2024 NAHL Entry Draft in the sixth round, 203rd overall. He played nearly every game during the regular season, playing 58 out of 59 games. The ‘05 skater registered 18 goals and 13 assists in that span, notching 31 points in his debut season in the NAHL. Four of those goals were scored on the man advantage, while one tally was scored on the penalty kill.

Moving into Hinchsliff’s 2025-26 season, he started the year with the Minnesota Mallards and was also named the captain of the team. He hit the ice in 29 contests with the Central Division team and produced 19 points in that span. He found twine eight times and produced 11 assists. Two of his goals were power-play tallies for the Mallards. In mid-January, the Northeast Generals acquired the Chicago, Illinois native as they were making their playoff push in the East Division. With the Generals in the regular season, the 6-foot-2 lefty played in 23 games, sporting an 11-point performance. The ‘05 skater scored two goals and made 11 assists with the East Division team. Moving into the postseason, the Illinois native laced up for eight playoff games. He found twine twice, both in power-play fashion, and registered four assists. Hinchsliff was crucial in forcing a game five against the Rochester Jr. Americans with his late third-period power-play tally, notching the game-winning goal for his team.

Head coach and general manager of the Generals, Bryan Erikson, went into detail on what it means for the ‘05 skater to take his next step in his hockey career.

“Beckett is a great kid and was sought after by our staff for the last two years. When it became possible to trade for him this year, we jumped at the chance, and we have not been disappointed. Just a great person with a real passion for his teammates. He is big, physical, and willing to get dirty on the walls. He plays hard every shift and is just relentless on the forecheck. His ability to impact the game with effort has been contagious in the room, and his impact was immediate both on and off the ice. He has played very big for us when the games have mattered the most. He has also taken on a tremendous leadership role, helping to mentor the younger players; he is kind of like an extra coach on the ice and bench. Tufts is a great spot for him, a high-end academic school with great hockey. We are thrilled and proud of Beckett and his commitment to Tufts. We can’t wait to watch him in the fall.”

Hinchsliff is one of 13 members of the Northeast Generals to make a college ice hockey commitment.
