New Hampshire Forward Johnson makes NCAA Commitment

The New Hampshire Mountain Kings of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Jaden Johnson has committed to play NCAA hockey for Aurora University in the NCHA.

Heading back to his home state of Illinois, the 5-foot-9 skater will join the Aurora Spartans in the fall. Johnson is a fourth-year NAHL veteran, playing in the Midwest and East Divisions during his career. He started his junior career with the Janesville Jets, lacing up in 39 games for the Wisconsin-based team in the 2022-23 season. He found twine twice, while notching eight assists in his rookie season. Following his time with the Jets, the ‘05 skater joined the Johnstown Tomahawks, playing 46 games in his second season of juniors. He scored nine goals while notching 16 assists during that span. One of his tallies was named the decider in a contest, while one goal was scored on the power play.

Heading into the 2024-25 season, Johnson joined the New Hampshire Mountain Kings in their second season in the NAHL. The Illinois native played in 58 games with the New Hampshire program, registering 14 goals and 29 assists in his third season. His scoring ways at crucial moments of the game were prevalent, as four of his tallies were game-winners. In addition to scoring at critical points, Johnson scored five goals on the man advantage during his 2024-25 campaign and two goals shorthanded.

Moving into his final season of junior hockey, Johnson rejoined the Mountain Kings in early December. Johnson featured 11 goals and 17 assists in his 33 games with New Hampshire this season. His offensive prowess for the East Division was critical because Johnson led the Mountain Kings with 0.85 points per game this season.

For his NAHL career, Johnson played 176 games in the League of Opportunity. He features 36 goals, 70 assists for 106 career points.

The NAHL veteran will join a college program coached by a NAHL alumnus, Jason Bloomingburg. Bloomingburg played three seasons with the Texas Tornado before coming back to serve as an assistant coach of the team. Following his time in the League of Opportunity, he took over the Division III programs a few years later and has now made a mark on the national stage. The Aurora University Spartans made their first Frozen Four appearance this spring.

Johnson is one of seven members of the New Hampshire Mountain Kings to make a college ice hockey commitment.
