Tuesday Tilts: Northeast Dominates in Opening Period to Secure Victory Over Maine

Elmira 4 @ Rochester 5 - The Rochester Jr. Americans defeated the Elmira Aviators 5-4 at Rochester Ice Center. Elmira led 1-0 after the first period before both teams exchanged goals in a busy second period that left Rochester ahead 3-2. Rochester extended its lead in the third period with goals from Yianni Koukouves and Brendan Giles before Elmira answered with two power-play goals to make it a one-goal game late. Giles recorded a hat trick to lead Rochester, while Matt Maglio had a goal and two assists for Elmira.

Northeast 6 @ Maine 3 - The Maine Nordiques hosted the Northeast Generals in a Tuesday night matchup. Even on a weeknight, both teams were sure to bring high energy to this match. The Generals kept pressure on the Nordiques for the entire match, outshooting the Nordiques 35-28 and scoring on two of five power-play opportunities. Logan Poulin struck first, getting the Generals on the board early in the first period. Braydon Hudtloff added the Generals' second tally while the team was short-handed. Rich Rucireto then added a third point for the Generals shortly after, scoring a power-play goal. Henry Butte answered back for the Nordiques, scoring their first of the night, assisted by Marshall McCharles and Aslan Zhussupbekov. Rucireto scored his second goal of the evening, and the Generals' fourth. Generals’ Hudtloff netted his second of the night, opening the second period with a power-play goal. Michael Sandruck scored on a man advantage to earn another tally for Maine before Butte scored his second of the night with a minute left in the second period to make the score 5-3. Goaltender Matthew Wood played twenty minutes for Maine before Lukas Fursten finished the game, allowing one goal while in net. Kody Moyer scored the last goal for the Generals on an empty net to make the final score 6-3. Will Mizenko was in the crease for the Generals, making 25 saves to secure the win.
