January 23, 2026

Minnesota W 6 @ Fairbanks 3 - In a battle between the top two teams in the Midwest Division, the divisional standings were on the line for the teams. The contest kicked off with Fairbanks’ Matthew Volkman finding twine a little over a minute into the opening period. Following him at the 16:57 minute mark would be Minnesota’s Jackson Reeves, evening the scoreboard. The middle frame featured Reeves finding twine once again around the 16-minute mark, giving the Wilderness the edge. However, the Ice Dogs struck back with two goals. First, the captain, Luca Ricciardi, lights the lamp to even the score once again. Following him, Volkman scores his second of the night, this time on the power play, to give his team the 3-2 lead heading into the final period. The last 20 minutes of regulation saw the Wilderness and the team showcasing their offensive prowess in the final minutes of the contest. First, Caleb Kim scores his 12th of the season for Minnesota. Following him a little over a minute later would be Noah Dziver, showing up on the scoresheet, notching the game-winning goal. Finally, in the last minute of the game, Talan Blanck and Avery Anderson both score empty-netters, helping their team skate away with a big 6-3 victory.
