St. Cloud Alternate Captain Gallivan makes NCAA Commitment
The Johnstown Tomahawks of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that defenseman Gabe Gallivan has committed to play NCAA hockey for University of Dubuque in the NCHA.
Hailing from the State of Hockey, Gallivan will skate with the Spartans this upcoming fall in Dubuque, Iowa. The 6-foot-1 blueliner is a second-year veteran of the Norsemen and is about to hit 100 games in a St. Cloud sweater. The 20-year-old has laced up in 34 games this season with the Minnesota team, tallying three goals and 11 assists. The alternate captain ranks second among blueliners on his roster with 14 points on the season. Additionally, one of his three goals was named the game-winner, while seven of his assists were secured on the man advantage.
Last season, the Maple Grove, Minnesota, skater hit the ice in 58 games, nearly playing every contest. Gallivan scored his first junior goal while securing 10 assists for the Norsemen. His lone goal in his 2024-25 campaign was scored on the man advantage.
Head coach of the Norsemen, Joe Exter, shares why Gallivan is a great addition to the Spartans' program.
“Dubuque is hitting a home run by adding Gabe to their program. On the ice, Gabe’s skating, passing, and defensive detail is what all coaches look for in a D. Most importantly, his leadership through example will help Dubuque continue to build their young program.”
Gallivan is one of four members of the St. Cloud Norsemen to make a college ice hockey commitment.
