Johnstown Alternate Captain Morgan makes NCAA Commitment
The Johnstown Tomahawks of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that defenseman Sean Morgan has committed to play NCAA hockey for University of New England in the CNE
Hailing from the Volunteer State, Sean Morgan will head to Biddeford, Maine, to skate with the Nor’easters next fall. Morgan is a third-year veteran of the Tomahawks program, skating in 143 games. The 6-foot blueliner has laced up in 37 games for Johnstown this season, notching three assists. Last season, the 20-year-old hit the ice for 59 games for the Tomahawks, scoring 11 points. Morgan tallied three goals while securing eight assists.
The Nashville native had his first full season in the League of Opportunity during the 2023-24 campaign. He hit the ice for 46 games in the Johnstown sweater, scoring his first junior goal while making four assists. He featured a +7 rating in his rookie season.
Head coach of the Tomahawks, Adam Houli, explains what it means to see Morgan take the next step.
“Sean Morgan is a tremendous asset to our program and someone every coach wants in their lineup. He is a relentless worker who leads by example and does all the little things the right way — blocking shots, sticking up for his teammates, and embracing tough assignments against top opposing players. Sean plays with purpose and pride every night, and those qualities will translate extremely well to the college level. He is going to be a great college hockey player at UNE, and I could not be more proud of him and happier for his family.”
Morgan is one of six members of the Johnstown Tomahawks to make a college ice hockey commitment.
