The Wisconsin Windigo of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Ryan Mottau has committed to play NCAA hockey for Connecticut College in the NESCAC.
Heading to lace up with the Camels in New London, Connecticut, Mottau will skate on the collegiate ice this upcoming fall. The 6-foot lefty is a first-year forward on the Wisconsin Windigo. This season, he laced up for the Midwest Division team in 26 games, tallying nine goals and six assists. One of his tallies was named the decider in a contest, while two goals were scored on the man advantage. This season, he featured three two-goal games, with a season-high three-point game on November 21, 2025, against the Kenai River Brown Bears. The Duxbury, Massachusetts native was acquired by the Windigo in early October from the Maine Nordiques. Mottau got his first taste of the NAHL last season with the Nordiques. He laced up in 10 games for the East Division team, featuring a goal and an assist for Maine.
Head coach of the Windigo, John Mitchell, shares how much of an asset Mottau has been for the Wisconsin roster.
We couldn’t be happier for Motts. He comes from a long lineage of great hockey players and has a good understanding of the community. His addition to our team this season provided great leadership and mentorship to our young freshman class. We would not be in the position we are in without Ryan Mottau.”
Mottau is the first member of the Wisconsin Windigo to make a college ice hockey commitment this season.
