New Mexico Defenseman Farmer makes NCAA Commitment

The New Mexico Ice Wolves of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that defenseman Sloan Farmer has committed to play NCAA hockey for Williams College in the NESCAC. 

The 6-foot blueliner from Old Greenwich, Connecticut, will head to Massachusetts to skate with the Ephs in the fall. Farmer is in his second season skating for the Ice Wolves. This season, the ‘05 defenseman has produced 14 assists for New Mexico. He ranks third on his roster in assists and leads his team with seven power-play assists. Last season, Farmer played in 60 games for the Ice Wolves. The Connecticut native tallied six goals and 19 assists for his team. Two of his goals were named game-winners, while one was scored on the man advantage. Five of his points last season were notched on the power play as well.

He will join two other NAHL players at Williams College in the fall. Playing for the Ephs will be Mitchell McCusker from the Kenai River Brown Bears and Spencer Hirsch from the Northeast General.

Head coach of the Ice Wolves, Kyle McKenzie, shares what he has seen from the second-year veteran.

“Sloan is a dedicated hockey player on and off the ice. He is a leader by example and is very respected by his teammates. We are thrilled for Sloan and know he will do great things.”

Farmer is one of three members of the New Mexico Ice Wolves to make a college ice hockey commitment.
