The Austin Bruins of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Matsvei Marshchanok has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Augustana University in the CCHA.

Making a mark in his first year in the League of Opportunity, Matsvei Marshchanok will lace up with the Vikings this upcoming fall. The 5-foot-9 lefty committed to the South Dakota program alongside his twin brother Siamion Marshchanok. The 20-year-old exploded onto the NAHL scene and has been a key contributor to the Austin Bruins’ success this season. Marshchanok ranks second on his roster with 44 total points on the season, tallying 17 goals and 27 assists. He features 1.47 points per game and is tied first in the league with 10 power-play goals this season. Almost half of his points come from his abilities on the man advantage. The Belarus native ranks second overall in the league with his +29 rating. Out of his 30 games played this season, the first-year forward has shown up on the scoresheet in 23 of them. His offensive prowess also features him securing 13 multi-point games this year and never having gone back-to-back games without a point this season.

The ‘05 forward explains how he feels to see his goals come to fruition.

“I have been working hard to reach the Division I college level and am happy to continue my hockey journey at such an amazing school as Augustana.”

The twins will join a fellow Belarus skater and Aberdeen Wings alumnus, Leonid Bulgakov. Bulgakov has seen a ton of success with Augustana this season, leading the team with 10 goals and sitting in second with 16 points in his first season.

Head coach of the Bruins, Steve Howard, shares his excitement for both twins.

“We could not be happier for Siamion and Matsvei. We were very excited to bring the twins in this season, and they have continued to grow and develop throughout the first half of the season. We are excited for them to get this opportunity to continue to play at Augustana.”

Marshchanok is one of five members of the Austin Bruins to make a Division I hockey college commitment.
