Thursday Thriller: The Jr. Blues Take Down the Brown Bears in 5-4 fashion

James Marshall tallies two for the Jr. Blues
Kenai River 4 @ Springfield 5 - The Kenai River Brown Bears took on the Springfield Jr. Blues in an exciting midweek matchup last night. The Brown Bears took the loss with a final score of 4-5 at Nelson Center. Kenai River got on the board first with a goal from Carter McCormick halfway through the opening frame. Springfield responded with three back-to-back goals scored by Theodor Boden, Lukas Wallinheimo, and James Marshall. Thomas Gunderson ended the period with a power-play goal for the Brown Bears that he notched in at the final minute of the frame. Kenai River scored the only goal in the second period as McCormick found the back of the net for the second time tonight to tie up the match. The Jr. Blues had a strong start to the final period, where Marshall and Wallinheimo each notched another goal to secure their win. The Brown Bears responded once more with a power-play goal from Parker Newman, but it was not enough to make the comeback. Andrew McClouth had 32 saves in the net for the Brown Bears, and Sam Doyon-Cataquiz helped the Jr. Blues secured the victory with 27 saves.
