Sunday Wrap-up: New Mexico Earns Series Win

Corpus Christi 2 @ New Mexico 5 - In the Sunday showdown, the IceRays and Ice Wolves were both looking to earn a series win with this matinee game. The contest kicked off with the IceRays striking first, thanks to a tally at the 14:37 minute mark by Islom Dzhabberganov. As the contest moved into the second period, the Ice Wolves showcased their offensive prowess. New Mexico’s Cayden Joramo finds the back of the net midway through the middle frame to tie up the contest 1-1. Following that goal, Corpus Christi would retake the lead five minutes later when Easton Swift tallied a goal. However, less than two minutes following, the Ice Wolves responded with two goals starting at the 3:36 minute mark. The first one was notched by Joramo, securing his second of the night. Following was Daniel McGillvary at the 1:08 minute mark, spotlighting McGillvary’s first of the year. With a 3-2 lead heading into the final 20 minutes of play, the Ice Wolves were looking to capitalize on their lead. The third period featured a two-goal performance by Oskar Edberg. He scored his first goal in the first seven minutes of the period. 10 minutes later, Edberg tallied his second of the night, marking his second two-goal game of the season. The Ice Wolves would skate away with a 5-2 victory and a series win. New Mexico’s Jackson Silverberg secured a 23-save performance, while Corpus Christi’s Xander Miceli turned away 48 out of 53 shots on net.
