New Mexico Forward Borgestad makes NCAA Commitment

October 16, 2025

The New Mexico Ice Wolves of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Brady Borgestad has committed to play NCAA hockey for University of Wisconsin-River Falls in the WIAC.

Hailing from the State of Hockey, Borgestad will join the Falcons next fall. The ‘05 forward is a third-year veteran of the NAHL. This season, he has laced up in eight contests for the Ice Wolves. Borgestad has found the back of the net and notched two assists so far. Last season, the White Bear Lake, Minnesota native hit the ice in 34 games for the Minnesota Mallards. The 6’1 righty tallied seven goals and made nine assists for the team. In his debut season in the NAHL, Borgestad played in 46 games for New Mexico. He scored four goals and made four assists in his rookie season.

Heading to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls to play hockey is a tradition in his family. His father, Patrick Borgestad, played three seasons for the Falcons. His dad was the top goal-scorer in his final season with the program.

Head coach of the Ice Wolves, Kyle McKenzie, shares his excitement for Borgestad.

“We are very happy for Brady on his commitment to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Brady is a great teammate and leader in many ways. His commitment is very well deserved.”

Borgestand will join 20+ NAHL alumni on UW-River Falls. UW-River Falls, which is located 30 minutes from the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, plays in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) and are 19-time WIAC Champions. The three-time NCAA National Champions play their home games out of the brand new 65-million-dollar W.H. Hunt Arena, located directly on campus.

The 6’1 righty is one of three members of the New Mexico Ice Wolves to make a college ice hockey commitment.
