Maine Stays Perfect with Shutout Win on Day 2

Janesville 3 @ New Hampshire 1 - In an intense matchup at the NSC Super Rink, the Janesville Jets soared to a 3-1 victory over the New Hampshire Mountain Kings. The Jets set the tone in the first period, netting all three of their goals. Connor Hillig opened the scoring at 17:08 with an assist from Sean Truby. Mason Minsky, who was pivotal throughout the game, added a power-play goal shortly after, assisted by Justin Bloink. Sean Truby then sealed the Jets’ dominant first period with the final goal, assisted by Bauer Murphy. The Mountain Kings, despite a spirited effort, managed only one goal in the second period. Cole Roenick found the back of the net at 14:58, thanks to an assist from Mikhail Cherepanov. However, the Jets’ goalie, Kaenan Smith, stood firm, recording 17 saves on 18 shots, maintaining a stellar .944 save percentage. Ryan Mitchell, the Mountain Kings’ goalie, faced 21 shots, saving 18. The game saw a total of nine penalties, with the Jets capitalizing on one of their four power-play opportunities, while New Hampshire failed to convert any of their five attempts.

Oklahoma 2 @ Northeast 5 - In a commanding performance at the NSC Super Rink, the Northeast Generals secured a decisive 5-2 victory over the Oklahoma Warriors in a regular-season match. The Generals, playing at home, staged a remarkable comeback after trailing 1-0 at the end of the first period, courtesy of Joseph Luger's opening goal for the Warriors. The Generals roared back in the second period, with Logan Poulin and Spencer Hirsch each netting power-play goals, while Alec Hall and Mikey Bartkowski added to the tally, showcasing their offensive prowess. Logan Poulin further cemented his position as a key player, scoring twice and earning the game's first star with an impressive three-point night. Goalie Will Mizenko was instrumental in the Generals' success, stopping 18 of 20 shots and earning the second star of the game. Alec Hall, with a goal and an assist, was named the third star. Despite the Warriors' Ronnie Wade scoring on a power play in the second period, their efforts were thwarted by the Generals' disciplined defense and effective penalty killing. The Generals capitalized on two of their three power-play opportunities, further highlighting their special teams' efficiency. 

New Jersey 3 @ Springfield 2 (OT) - In a thrilling overtime encounter at the NSC Super Rink, the New Jersey Titans edged past the Springfield Jr. Blues with a 3-2 victory. The Titans took the lead in the first period with Luke Schoen scoring off assists from Arseniy Zharikov and Nikolai Meshkantsov. Springfield responded quickly, leveling the score at 1-1 through a power play goal by Conner Broadhead, assisted by Sarunas Baltrunas and Gaige Giblin. The second period remained goalless, with both teams displaying strong defensive plays. The scoring resumed in the third period as Skogen Schrott gave the Titans a 2-1 lead, but Ben Cameron equalized for the Jr. Blues shortly after, assisted by Joey Mugaas. The game went into overtime, where Schoen was the hero again, netting his second goal of the match within the first minute, assisted by Owen Leahy and Blake Jones, sealing the win for the Titans. Goalie Tyler Rounds had an impressive game for the Titans with 31 saves, while Amir Valiullin of the Jr. Blues made 36 saves. The Brahmas, playing away, demonstrated their offensive prowess early on, with Vincenzo Capano opening the scoring at 13:33 of the first period. Tyson Scanlon added another for the Brahmas shortly after, while Zachary Homer responded for the Wilderness with a short-handed goal, assisted by Noah Dziver, leaving the first period tied at 2-2. River Freeman pushed the Wilderness ahead early in the second period with a goal, but the Brahmas' Samuel Lussier equalized once more, thanks to Christian Venticinque's assist. Kenai River 4 @ El Paso 8 - In a thrilling showdown at the NSC Super Rink, the El Paso Rhinos outmaneuvered the Kenai River Brown Bears with a commanding 8-4 victory. The match, held on September 25, 2025, saw the Rhinos dominate across three periods, showcasing a robust offensive strategy. Nolan Smith emerged as the star of the game, netting a hat-trick, including an impressive short-handed goal in the final period. Kamden Kaiser also displayed remarkable prowess, contributing two goals, further solidifying his position as a top scorer this season. Ronnie Hill initiated the scoring at 5:03, with assists from Michael Ryan and Teddy Richardson, capitalizing on a power play to put Wisconsin ahead. Later in the period, Teddy Richardson doubled the lead at 13:45, assisted by Bjorn Bahneman and Samuel Misak. Corpus Christi responded with a goal from Nick Evans, assisted by Grayson Gerhard, at the 15-minute mark of the second period, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit. The game saw the Wolverines dominate early with a 2-0 lead by the end of the first period. Leon Buzek opened the scoring at 06:02, followed by Sam Evert's power-play goal at 02:32. Despite Philadelphia's strong third-period push with goals from Johnny Conlin and Cam Wilson, it was not enough to overcome Anchorage's lead. The Mudbugs exploded in the opening frame, building what looked like a commanding lead with goals from Matt Maglio, Vincent Diiulio, and Joseph Samango, giving Shreveport a 3-0 advantage after twenty minutes. Elmira clawed back in the second period, finally breaking through when Mitchell Ried struck late to cut the deficit to 3-1. The momentum carried into the third, where the Aviators’ offense came alive. Maximus McGuire brought Elmira within one, and less than five minutes later, Remy Pusateri tied the game at 3-3. The comeback was completed when Andrew Piccirillo buried the go-ahead goal, silencing the Shreveport crowd and sealing a 4-3 victory. Both teams registered 33 shots on goal, but Elmira’s Vladimir Pechenin stood tall with 30 saves, backstopping the rally.

Chippewa 3 @ Maryland 9 - In a high-octane offensive showcase, the Maryland Black Bears overwhelmed the Chippewa Steel with a dominant 9-3 victory on home ice. Maryland’s relentless attack saw them outshoot Chippewa by a staggering 56-17 margin, dictating the pace of play from start to finish. The Black Bears erupted for five goals in the first period alone, with Trey Hinton leading the charge by completing a hat trick on the night. Owen Drury chipped in a pair of tallies, while Tanner Duncan, Ethan Richardson, and Jack Costello also found the back of the net to keep the offense rolling. Danbury 2 @ Odessa 3 - In a closely contested battle at the NSC Super Rink - Rink 1, the Odessa Jackalopes emerged victorious over the Danbury Hat Tricks with a 3-2 win in a regular season matchup. The Jackalopes took an early lead in the first period with a shorthanded goal by Brandon Catalano, assisted by Jack L'Esperance, at 10:01. However, Danbury's Brendan Boring equalized at 5:41 into the same period, assisted by Peter Freel. The second period saw Tanner Terranova putting Danbury ahead with another goal, assisted by Lukas Zimovcak and Gavin O'Hara. The third period was all Odessa, as Jeremy Jacobs netted a shorthanded goal at 7:09, followed by Adam Matar's power-play goal at 16:24, assisted by Melker Lovenlund. Odessa's goalie Kevin Jones was instrumental, making 27 saves from 29 shots, securing a save percentage of .931. Rochester 4 @ Amarillo 3 (SO) - In a thrilling encounter at the NSC Super Rink, the Rochester Jr. Americans edged out the Amarillo Wranglers 4-3 in a shootout victory. Rochester took an early lead with Ryan Shaw scoring in the first period, assisted by Logan Keup. Amarillo responded quickly as Jacob Miller netted the equalizer, with assistance from Jayden Shirk. The second period saw two goals from Rochester, courtesy of Stone Rolston and Michael Sandruck, compared to one from Amarillo's Kirill Evstigneev, keeping the game tightly contested. Amarillo's Padraic Whited scored in the third period, leveling the match and pushing it into overtime. However, neither team could break the deadlock, leading to a shootout where Adam Gionta and Owen King clinched the win for Rochester. Rochester outshot Amarillo 31 to 17, with Jensen Carlstrom making 14 saves for Rochester and Jack Foy stopping 28 shots for Amarillo. Johnstown 3 @ New Mexico 4 (OT) - In an electrifying encounter at the NSC Super Rink, the New Mexico Ice Wolves edged past the Johnstown Tomahawks with a thrilling 4-3 overtime victory. The Ice Wolves’ offense was spearheaded by Anton Malyshev, Brock Fairbanks, and Andy Earl, each contributing crucial goals during regulation. Sean Smith and Sean Gibbons provided key assists, showcasing the team's depth. The Tomahawks' Emerson Marshall was a standout performer, scoring a hat-trick, including two power-play goals, which kept the visitors in contention throughout the match. Fairbanks 0 @ Maine 3 - The Maine Nordiques continued their perfect start to the season with a 3-0 shutout win over the Fairbanks Ice Dogs, powered by strong goaltending and timely scoring. Netminder Lukas Fursten was flawless between the pipes, turning aside all 25 shots he faced to backstop Maine to its fifth straight victory. Maine struck first late in the opening period when Charlie Rudnick broke the deadlock, giving the Nordiques the early edge. After a scoreless middle frame, the home side pulled away in the third. Victor Daigle doubled the lead before Kian Wagner sealed the win with an insurance marker, putting the game out of reach for Fairbanks. The Ice Dogs had their chances, generating 25 shots and five power-play opportunities, but they couldn’t solve Fursten. Meanwhile, Maine showed resilience on the penalty kill, shutting down all eight of Fairbanks’ chances to secure the clean sheet and remain unbeaten.
