Colorado Defenseman Helgeson makes NCAA DI Commitment

The Colorado Grit of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Luke Helgeson has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for University of Alaska-Anchorage.
The 6’0 lefty from Anchorage, Alaska, will return to his home state to skate with the Seawolves in the fall. The 20-year-old skater is a second-year skater for the Grit, but is a fourth-year veteran of the league. This past season, he laced up in 56 contests, tallying eight goals and 21 assists. One of his goals was named the decider in a contest, while five goals were scored on the man advantage.
In his 2023-24 campaign, the blueliner hit the ice in 28 games for the Grit. He scored four goals and made five assists. One of his goals was named the game-winning goal in a contest. In the 2021-22 season, he split time between the North Iowa Bulls and Kenai River Brown Bears. He played 17 games that season. His debut season saw Helgeson hit the ice in six games for the Brown Bears.
Helgeson is one of 14 members of the Colorado Grit to make a Division I hockey college commitment.
