El Paso Captain Reed makes NCAA Commitment

The El Paso Rhinos of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward A.J. Reed has committed to play NCAA hockey for University of Wisconsin-Superior in the WIAC.
Third-year El Paso veteran, Reed, will be hitting the ice with the Yellowjackets this upcoming fall. The 6’2 lefty led the Rhinos' offensive with 19 goals and 38 total points on the season. Five of his goals were scored on the man advantage and one was named as the decider in a contest. Reed was also named as a Top Prospect for the South Division team at the 2025 Top Prospects Tournament.
During the 2023-24 season, the Wisconsin native laced up in 62 games, tallying nine goals and 19 assists. In his debut season with the South Division team, Reed played in 49 games, finding the back of the net nine times while producing seven assists. The 21-year-old got his first taste of the NAHL in the 2021-22 season, where he hit the ice in 10 games with the Jamestown Rebels, scoring two goals and producing three assists.
Reed will join his fellow teammate, Roope Tuomioksa, and Eli Mikesch from the Watertown Shamrocks in Wisconsin this upcoming fall.
Head coach of the Rhinos, Mike Rivera, shares what impact Reed has had this past season.
“We are really excited for Reedy’s commitment. He was the backbone of our team this season, both on and off the ice. Reedy is one of the best captains I’ve had the privilege to coach and always made his presence felt on the ice. He’s a power forward who can produce offense and play in all situations. His 200-foot details are elite. UW-Superior is lucky to have him, and he will undoubtedly be a big piece of their lineup every night.”
Reed is one of eleven members of the El Paso Rhinos to make a college ice hockey commitment.
