Springfield Defenseman Coles makes NCAA Commitment

The Springfield Jr. Blues of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that defenseman Andon Coles has committed to play NCAA hockey for University of Dubuque in the NCHA.
The second-year veteran from St. Alberta, Canada, will skate with the Spartans in Iowa in the fall. Coles has laced up for the Jr. Blues in over 110 games the past two seasons. The 5’10 lefty hit the ice in 59 contests this past season, finding the back of the net five times while producing 23 assists. His 23 assists rank him second for the Jr. Blues among defensemen. Additionally, one of his five goals was scored on the man advantage.
Last season, the ‘04 blueliner hit the ice in 58 games, tallying four goals and 21 assists in his debut season in the NAHL. The Canadian scored two of his four goals in the 2023-2024 season on the power play.
Alongside Coles this upcoming season, four fellow NAHL players will be joining him at the University of Dubuque. Skating with him as a Spartan will be Zak Wentworth from the St. Cloud Norsemen, Charlie Ashton from the Oklahoma Warriors, Zach Cline, and Beau Altman from the Wisconsin Windigo.
Head Coach of Jr. Blues, Todd Pococke, shares more on Coles development and impact on the Springfield organization.
“Andon has been a major piece on the back end for us for the last two seasons and he'll be greatly missed. He was a Captain this past year and was a great leader both on and off the ice. We're very proud of him and his commitment to Dubuque!”
Coles is one of seven members of the Springfield Jr. Blues to make a college ice hockey commitment.
