Danbury Defenseman Cerrato makes NCAA Commitment

The Danbury Hat Tricks of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that defenseman Salvatore Cerrato has committed to play NCAA hockey for Utica University in the UCHC.
The 5’10 righty from St. Louis, Missouri will skate with the Pioneers in the fall. Cerrato is an example of the ladder of development that the NAHL promotes, he played in NAPHL with Carshield before entering the NAHL. This past season the 21-year-old started his year with the Amarillo Wranglers. He laced up in 38 games with the Texas team, tallying 10 goals and 26 assists. Three of his goals were the decider in the contest, while two goals were scored on the man advantage.
Following his time in Amarillo, he was acquired by the Hat Tricks in February. The ‘04 blueliner laced up for 19 games with Danbury. He found the back of the net three times and produced seven assists. Cerrato featured a +9 rating in his time with the Hat Tricks. This season he was also selected as a Top Prospect and played on the undefeated Selects Black team at the 2025 Top Prospects Tournament.
Cerrato got the opportunity to get a taste of the NAHL last season when he hit the ice for one game with the Wisconsin Windigo.
The 5’10 defenseman will join Alex German from the Colorado Grit and Jagur McClelland from the Springfield Jr. Blues this upcoming fall in New York.
Head Coach of the Hat Tricks, Lenny Caglianone shares his excitement for Cerrato’s next step in his hockey career.
“Sal was an incredible addition at the deadline. His offensive prowess helped increase our scoring ceiling and bolstered our power play. For as much as he contributed on the offensive side of the ice, he developed incredibly on the back end as well during his time with us. Hoping he has a healthy and incredible collegiate career at Utica!
Cerrato is one of eleven members of the Danbury Hat Tricks to make a college hockey commitment.
