Rochester Forward Randel makes NCAA Commitment

The Rochester Jr. Americans of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Gabel Randel has committed to play NCAA hockey for University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in the WIAC.
The Wisconsin native is returning to his home state to skate with the six-time NCAA Division III Champions in the fall. The 6’0 righty is a second-year skater of the Jr. Americans. This past season, he hit the ice for a total of 68 games, during which he scored seven times and produced 14 assists. Three of his goals were the game-winning goal and one goal was scored on the man advantage. The ‘04 skater featured a +5 rating on the year.
Last season, Randel earned a midseason call-up from the Wausau Cyclones in the NA3HL. He is a representative of the ladder of development that the NAHL prides itself on. Randel was offensively dominant on the ice. He featured 22 goals and 33 assists in 32 games. His prowess on the ice got the attention of the Jr. Americans where he joined them for the remainder of the year. While with the New York team, Randel laced up for 33 games and featured three goals and seven assists.
In his debut year in the NA3HL with the Wausau Cyclones, he hit the ice for 47 games and featured almost a point per game. Randel scored 12 goals and made 31 assists for the Wisconsin team. Half of his goals were scored on the power play.
Head Coach of the Jr. Americans, Francois Methot, shares more on the development he has seen from Randel.
“Gabe came in through our NA3 program and impressed us right away. After being invited to practice with us last season, his work ethic and attitude made such a strong impression that we decided to bring him on full-time. He’s the kind of player every team needs—consistent, tough to play against, and an excellent teammate. We’re excited for him as he joins a strong program at Stevens Point, where he will certainly be appreciated.”
Randel is one of seventeen members of the Rochester Jr. Americans to make a college ice hockey commitment.
