Rochester Defenseman Chapman makes NCAA DI Commitment

June 20, 2025

The Rochester Jr. Americans of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that defenseman Liam Chapman has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Army West Point in the Atlantic

Hailing from the Granite State, Chapman is a second-year veteran of the Jr. Americans. The 6’1 blueliner laced up for 68 games with Rochester and tallied seven goals and 28 assists on the year. The ‘04 skater is one of the top defensemen on the Jr. Americans and features a team-best +44 rating on the year. His plus-minus rating on the year (including playoffs) ranks him second in the league. His offensive prowess in the postseason puts him third on his team with nine total points in 12 games. Chapman was a member of the 2025 Rochester roster that made it to Blaine, Minnesota for the Robertson Cup and was named as a 2024 Top Prospect for the East Division team

Last season, the New Hampshire native hit the ice in 63 games for Rochester. He found the back of the net three times and produced seven assists in the team’s inaugural season. The blueliner made his NAHL debut with the Lone Star Brahmas during the 2022-2023. He laced up in four games and produced one assist with the South Division team.

Chapman shares his excitement to join the Black Knights in the fall.

“I’m proud to announce my commitment to play Division I hockey at Army West Point. I’m incredibly grateful to my family, friends, teammates, and coaches for their support throughout my journey. I’m honored for the opportunity to serve my country while attending such a prestigious and disciplined program. Go Army!”

Head coach of the Jr. Americans, Francois Methot, went into detail on the impact Chapman had for the Rochester program.

“We are incredibly proud and excited about Liam's commitment to Army. Over the past two years, he has truly been the ideal teammate, both on and off the ice. His improvement has been remarkable, making him one of the most valuable players on our team. We relied on him significantly during the playoffs and at the Robertson Cup, and he consistently rose to the occasion. We’re definitely looking forward to following his college career.”

Chapman is the eighth member of the Rochester Jr. Americans to make a Division I hockey college commitment.
