Minot Goaltender Swedin makes NCAA DI Commitment

June 6, 2025

The Minot Minotauros of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that goaltender Lukas Swedin has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Bentley University in the Atlantic.

Hailing from the hockey-rich country of Sweden, Lukas Swedin is heading to skate in Massachusetts with the Falcons. The 5’9 netminder is one of the top goaltenders in the league. He features a 1.88 goals against average and a .940 save percentage during the regular season. His ability to save shots between the pipes ranks second in the league. In his two years with Minot, the ‘04 goaltender has produced 45 wins out of 68 contests. Swedin had only picked up one overtime loss when he was in the blue paint for the past two years. This season he has also notched six shutout victories for the North Dakota team.

The goaltender was named as a 2025 Top Prospect on the Central Division team at the 2025 Top Prospects Tournament.  While at the USA Hockey Arena, Swedin saved 18 out of 19 shots, helping his team to clinch a win. Swedin was named Bauer Hockey Star of the Week twice this season and earned Goaltender of the Month for his work in the blue paint in January.

Last season, the Swede, laced up for 20 contests, notching 14 wins. He spotlighted a 1.84 goals against average, a .924 save percentage, and three shutouts.

Swedin shares his excitement about furthering his education and hockey career with the Falcons.

“I am beyond proud and excited to announce my commitment to further my education and play Division I hockey at Bentley University! I can’t thank everyone who has supported me along the way enough — from my teammates, coaches, and friends, to most of all my family. I am forever grateful for your belief in me.”

Head coach of the Minotauros, Cody Campbell, explains his excitement for Swedin’s next step in his hockey career.

"We are proud of Lukas and excited about the opportunity he has earned to play Division I college hockey at Bentley. Lukas was fantastic for us during his time here and there is no doubt that he will go to Bentley and compete for starts right out of the gate. His poise and ability to calm tense situations for his team is something all coaches and programs value in a goalie. Lukas is also a phenomenal teammate and leader. He was the backbone of our group this year. We are so excited to watch his career continue at a wonderful educational institution and play at one of the quickest-rising hockey programs in the country."

Swedin is the seventh member of the Minot Minotauros to make a Division I hockey college commitment.
