The Watertown Shamrocks of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Spencer Sasenbury has committed to play NCAA hockey for SUNY-Canton in the SUNYAC.
The 6’3 lefty from Fayetteville, New York is heading back to his home state to skate with the Kangaroos in the fall. The ‘04 forward is a second-year skater in the league. He started his season with the 2024 Robertson Cup Champions, the Lone Star Brahmas. In November of this season he was acquired by the Shamrocks. In his 32 games played as a Shamrock, Sasenbury found the back of the net eight times and produced three assists. Three of his eight goals were named as the game-winning goals.
Last season, he skated in 34 games with the Lone Star Brahmas. He tallied two goals for the Brahmas and was a member of the the Lone Star Brahmas championship team.
Head coach of the Shamrocks, Casey Kirley, shares what he has seen from Sasenbury this season.
“The Kangaroos are getting a proven winner in Spencer. He knows what it takes to have success both individually and as a team. A Robertson Cup winner, Spencer has worked to grow the offensive side of his game this year and it showed with his ability to score goals the second half of the season. We look forward to watching him continue to grow his game at the collegiate level with SUNY-Canton.”
Sasenbury is one of twelve members of the Watertown Shamrocks to make a college ice hockey commitment.
