Springfield Defenseman Peller makes NCAA Commitment

May 22, 2025

The Springfield Jr. Blues of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that defenseman Zach Peller has committed to play NCAA hockey for Buffalo State University in the SUNYAC.

The 20-year-old blueliner from Raleigh, North Carolina will be lacing up with the Bengals in the fall. Peller has skated in the NAHL over the past three seasons. He has hit the ice for the Jr. Blues for the past two years in 98 games. This season he has tallied two goals and made seven assists. Last year, he found the back of the net two times while producing two assists. Prior to skating with Springfield, the 6’0 skater played in three games with the Philadelphia Rebels in the 2023-2024 season and three matchups with the Amarillo Wranglers in the 2022-20223 season.

Head coach of the Jr. Blues, Todd Pococke, shares his excitement for Peller’s commitment.

“We're very excited and proud of Zach in his commitment to play for Buffalo State. He has been a great presence on the backend for us for the past two seasons and is an outstanding teammate. We wish the best of luck to him and look forward to watching him in the future!”

Peller is one of seven members of the Springfield Jr. Blues to make a college ice hockey commitment.
