Lone Star 5 @ New Mexico 1 (Lone Star wins South Division Semifinals 3-0): The Lone Star used a four-goal third period to dispatch the New Mexico Ice Wolves and finish off the sweep in the South Division Semifinals.
The game was scoreless until the final minutes of the first period as Christian Venticinque chipped a backhanded shot past Jackson Fuller to give the Brahmas the first lead of the game. The Ice Wolves would tie the game in the second period as after a Johnny Johannson keep in set up Ben Polomsky to deliver a perfect pass to Jake Kasay who buried a one-timer past Ryan Cameron.
In the third period, a point shot from Zack Rizzo found twine as a power play expired to put Lone Star back into the lead. The Brahmas power play would continue to be the Ice Wolves Achilles heel as Charlie Emmons collected a blocked shot and found Saxton Tess wide open in the far face-off circle and he rifled a shot past Fuller. August Classon would add in two empty net goals in the final three minutes to inflate the final score to 5-1.
Ryan Cameron was sensational in the series allowing just two goals in three games. He stopped 21 of 22 shots he faced in the final period while Fuller finished the evening with 18 saves on the 21 shots he saw. Lone Star advances to face Corpus Christi in the South Division Finals which begin next weekend as they look to return to the Robertson Cup for the second consecutive year.
