St. Cloud Stays in the Hunt for a Central Division Playoff Spot

The St. Cloud Norsemen are in a tight race for the last spot in the Central Division playoffs and last night they were determined to keep their postseason hopes alive. The Norsemen produced their seventh win against the Mallards this season with a 6-1 victory last night at the St. Cloud Municipal Sports Complex. The scoring started quickly in the first period with a goal by the ‘05 Air Force commit, Sam Crane. As the contest moved into the second frame, the Norsemen tallied five goals in twenty minutes of play. Tate Hardacre found the back of the net for St. Cloud within the first two minutes of the second period. Following that, less than two minutes later former Minnesota Mallard, Mason LeBel, scored a goal on his old squad. The scoring continued for the Norsemen with goals by Krisjanis Sarts, Martins Klaucans, and Tre Peck. As the matchup moved into the final frame, the Mallards were down 6-0. With less than four minutes on the clock, the lamp was finally lit for the Mallards thanks to Marek Thompson. Thompson was selected as a 2025 Top Prospect for Team Central this season and played a crucial role in his squad not being shut out.
The Norsemen out shot the Mallards over 2 to 1. Minnesota’s netminder, Hunter Bauer, faced 43 shots, saving 37 of them. For St. Cloud’s goaltender, Beck Liden, was the winner in the blue paint saving 16 out of 17 shots.
