21 NAHL Alumni Hit the Ice for the NCAA Division I Men’s Frozen Four

April 10, 2025

The stage is set as the 2025 NCAA Division I Men’s Frozen Four starts on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri. The North American Hockey League is proud to announce that 21 athletes with NAHL connections will be competing for the most coveted trophy in collegiate hockey.

The semifinal round of competition will feature Denver and Western Michigan at 4:00 PM CST. Following that matchup, Penn State and Boston University will face off at 7:30 PM CST tonight. The winners from those games will battle on Saturday night for the 2025 NCAA Division I Men’s Hockey Championship title.

Western Michigan features the most players with NAHL ties in the Frozen Four with 10 former NAHLers lacing up. Two alumni on the Broncos roster are tied with a team-leading +23 rating for the season. Former Bismarck Bobcat, Owen Michaels has tallied 14 goals and produced 18 assists during his second season with Western Michigan. Another skater who is contributing in crucial times for the Broncos is former Corpus Christi IceRay, Brian Kramer. He helped his squad win the Fargo Regional and take down UMass with an assist on the game-winning goal.

A netminder from the 2021 Robertson Cup Championship roster, Arsenii Sergeev, has served as a keystone piece of the Penn State Nittany Lions. Sergeev is a former Shreveport Mudbug and New Jersey Titan. In the Allentown Regional, Sergeev faced his old alma mater, the UConn Huskies, in the Quarterfinals. This win marks Penn State’s first-ever Frozen Four appearance and Sergeev's work in the blue paint played a crucial role in the squad’s opportunity to head to St. Louis, Missouri. The Nittany Lions won in a 3-2 overtime victory fashion and Sergeev made 42 saves, one off his career-high in this contest. He has improved his record to 19-8-4 on the year, features a .918 save percentage, and 2.56 goals against average for this season.

The Janesville Jets feature the most former skaters in the 2025 Men’s Hockey Championship with three former athletes playing across two teams in the tournament. The NAHL has 18 former teams represented across all four rosters getting ready to hit the ice.
