16 Players with NAHL Connections Win Division III Hockey Championships with Hobart College

The Hobart College Statesmen claimed their third consecutive National Championship this past weekend and the squad features 16 players with NAHL connections. Hobart defeated Utica University 2-1 in overtime. They are the first program to win three straight National Championships since Middlebury did the same feat between 2004-2006.
With a squad filled with former NAHL athletes, Hobart’s historic run was due in part to the league’s alumni. The team featured an overall record of 29-1-1, and the top three goal scorers on the Statesmen are skaters with NAHL ties. Former Lone Star Brahma, Tanner Daniels, led the pack in all categories. The third-year veteran tallied a team-leading 18 goals, 22 assists, 40 total points, and a +36 rating on the season. Close behind Daniels was former St. Cloud Blizzard skater, Luke Aquaro. Aquaro tallied 16 goals, dished 18 assists, and notched a +31 rating. The third top goal scorer was former Odessa Jackalope, Christopher Duclair. Duclair found the back of the net 11 times while producing 10 assists on the season. He additionally featured a +17 rating for the year.
The offensive prowess of the squad was not the only shining point; the defense of the Statesmen was a key factor in the team’s success. Hobart College allowed 32 goals in 31 games, making it the second-fewest allowed in program history. Former Corpus Christi IceRay, Damon Beaver, was a part of the goaltending duo that dominated this season. Beaver featured a 17-1-0 record, 1.14 goals against average, and .952 save percentage. His work in the blue paint helped to propel the Hobart College Statesmen to their third National Championship title.
