The North American Hockey League (NAHL) announced today the Bauer Hockey Divisional Stars of the Week for the week ending March 2nd, 2025. Only players that are nominated by their respective teams are considered for the Divisional Player of the Week awards.
Central Division Star of the Week: Tomas Anderson, Goaltender, Bismarck Bobcats
The Stillwater, Minnesota native, Tomas Anderson, was dominant between the pipes for the Bobcats during their road trip to Austin. Starting on Friday night, the 6’2 netminder allowed his one and only goal on the weekend in the first period to Luc Malkhassian. This first-period goal would turn out to be the only goal of the game, landing Anderson with the loss on the scoresheet. Anderson saved 18 out of 19 shots and ended with a 1.04 goals against average during the matchup. Heading into Saturday night, the Bobcats and Anderson were hungry to avenge their loss 1-0 loss. The Niagara University commit notched his seventh shutout of the season with his 35-save performance in the blue paint. With his performance, he hit a season-high on saves during a shutout and now leads the league with his seven shutouts.
For the weekend, he saved 53 out of 54 shots, produced a .974 save percentage, and 0.50 goals against average. Anderson is one of the top goaltenders in the league. He features the second-best goals against average (1.537) and wins (26), while ranks third with his save percentage (.938).
Head coach of the Bobcats, Garrett Roth, shares more on Anderson’s contribution to the squad.
“Tomas had a great weekend and has continued to elevate his game as the season has progressed. He gave us a great chance to win both games this weekend and has been the backbone of our team.”
2nd Star: Jack Solomon, G, Austin Bruins
3rd Star: Jack O’Hanisain, F, Minot Minotauros
East Division Star of the Week: Charlie Zetterkvist, Forward, Johnstown Tomahawks
An 18-year-old from the hockey-rich nation of Sweden, Charlie Zetterkvist notched his first five-point weekend in the league. The ‘06 skater started his offensively dominant weekend on Friday night versus the New Hampshire Mountain Kings. Zetterkvist produced his second two-goal game of the season during Tomahawks 3-1 victory on Friday evening. The 5’11 lefty scored the first and game-winning goal during the contest. Moving into Saturday night, the Mountain Kings were able to quickly tie the game up early in the second period, 2-2. However, within seven minutes, Zetterkvist helped his squad put together three goals. Two of the goals came with the help of his assist, while the goal he scored was named the game-winning goal. This game marked his third three-point game of the year and first +3 rating matchup of the season.
For the weekend, the Swede scored three goals, made two assists, and produced a +5 rating. His offensive prowess was felt at major times in the matchup because two of his three goals scored were game-winning goals. On the year, Zetterkvist ranks with the best point-per-game statistic on his squad with a 0.75.
Head coach of the Tomahawks, Jared Kersner, shares what he has seen from Zetterkvist this season.
"Charlie is an outstanding player with the ability to create scoring chances from anywhere on the ice, thanks to his elite stick skills and vision. His quick release makes him a scoring threat, even from tough angles. More importantly, he’s an incredible teammate and person—always showing up to the rink with a smile and approaching his development with passion and enthusiasm."
2nd Star: Jaden Dyke, F, Rochester Jr. Americans
3rd Star: Danick Leroux, G, Rochester Jr. Americans
Midwest Division Star of the Week: Michael Manzi, Goaltender, Anchorage Wolverines
Michael Manzi was one of the main keys to Anchorage’s success over the weekend. The 6’1 netminder from the “First State” played a key role in the 49th state battle of the Alaska Airlines Club 49 Cup. Starting on Friday night, the Anchorage Wolverines were determined to bounce back from the road trip in Chippewa. Anchorage had a 3-0 advantage heading into the third period against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. Fairbanks was able to score an early third-period goal, however it would not be enough to take down the Wolverines. Manzi walked away saving 26 out of 27 shots and produced a February best .963 save percentage. Heading into Saturday night, the contest started with a bang with both squads scoring two goals each in the first period. The rest of the matchup went scoreless forcing the game to go into a shootout. While in the shootout, Manzi gave up a goal to Fairbank’s Luca Ricciardi. That one goal would allow the Ice Dogs to take the 3-2 shootout victory at the Sullivan Arena.
This honor marks the third time this season that Manzi has won a weekly award. The ‘04 goaltender features a 1.50 goals against average and a .952 save percentage. He turned away 60 out of 63 shots.
Head coach of the Wolverines, Nick Walters, explains how much Manzi impacted the Wolverines’ series over the weekend.
"Michael had an outstanding weekend and was the backbone of the team that helped us get three out of four points against an in-state rival. In both games, he made timely saves to keep the team in it. On Friday it was an early, first-period penalty kill, where he stopped a couple of grade-A scoring chances to weather the storm and allow the guys in front of him to settle in. On Saturday it was a third-period surge by Fairbanks and he was able to keep them at bay allowing us a chance to go to overtime. Knowing you have a goalie who will make big saves when we miss our assignments in front of him, brings a certain calmness to the team and bench, allowing us to continue to play our game. We will continue to build off of this weekend as we head into this final stretch and I know we will continue to see big things from Michael.”
2nd Star: Noah Dziver, F, Minnesota Wilderness
3rd Star: Hunter Hayes, F, Wisconsin Windigio
South Division Star of the Week: Jackson Fuller, Goaltender, New Mexico Ice Wolves
Third-year Ice Wolves veteran, Jackson Fuller, earns his third Star of the Week honors of the season thanks to his work in the blue paint over the weekend. Starting on Friday night, the 6’0 netminder was perfect between the pipes saving all 25 shots. This shutout marks his fourth shutout of the season. Heading into Saturday night, the Centerville, Minnesota native allowed his one and only goal of the weekend quickly in the first period. El Paso’s Andrew DellaDonna found the back of the net within the first 30 seconds of the matchup. After that early goal, Fuller got to work in the net and turned away 17 out of 18 shots against the Rhinos. Fuller has served as a keystone piece for the Ice Wolves this season. Out of New Mexico’s 24 wins, 19 of them came with the help of Fuller between the pipes.
For the weekend, the ‘04 netminder saved 42 out of 43 shots, featured 0.50 goals against average, and a .972 save percentage. With this weekend sweep, the Ice Wolves have solidified a lead over the El Paso Rhinos and currently sit in fourth place for the South Division standings.
Head coach of the Ice Wolves, Kevin Hartzell, shares more on how Fuller contributed to the Ice Wolves’ sweep over the weekend.
“Another fine weekend for Jackson. As we have climbed in the standings, Jackson has only gotten better. I Love the fact that in Saturday's game with El Paso, we gave up a goal in the first 30 seconds, and Jackson shut the door the next 59 and a half minutes. We needed every stop in the 2-1 win. Jackson continues to lead our charge.”
2nd Star: Paul Wiczek, F, Oklahoma Warriors
3rd Star: Owen Kerr, F, Lone Star Brahmas
