New Mexico Defenseman Matthews makes NCAA DI Commitment

The New Mexico Ice Wolves of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that defenseman Max Matthews has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Lindenwood University.
The 6’1 blueliner from Arlington Heights, Illinois will be playing with the Lions next fall. Matthews is a fifth-year skater in the North American Hockey League. Over the past two seasons he has skated with the New Mexico Ice Wolves in 96 games. The ‘04 righty has found the back of the net three times and produced seven assists this season. Matthews additionally features a plus-seven rating for the year.
Matthews shares his excitement to join the Lions.

Head coach of the Ice Wolves, Kevin Hartzell, shares more about Matthews’ work ethic.
“Max has certainly paid his dues in junior hockey, nearing 150 NAHL games. His dedication and perseverance for this college opportunity at Lindenwood is well earned and well deserved. We are so happy for Max, joining another defenseman IceWolves alum, Joe Prouty. Max will serve as a role model for many current and future IceWolves.”
He is the fifth member of the New Mexico Ice Wolves to make a Division I hockey college commitment.
