Sunday Wrap Up; Black Bears, Brahmas and Mudbugs All Grab Wins

January 27, 2025

Luke Janus (top) netted the game winner in a thriller for Maryland. Bryce Boucher (bottom) potted a pair of goals for Shreveport

Maryland 6 @ Northeast 5 - A goal with just 3:57 remaining off the stick of Luke Janus was the difference as the Black Bears edged the Generals 6-5. Sebastian Speck and Spencer Hirsch traded goals in the opening period while Joseph McGraw and Mason Stenger went back and forth in the second period. Three goals in the opening two minutes of the third period saw the Generals take a 4-3 lead after Jack Montaldo and Jackson Rutherford countered Stenger’s second of the game. Tanner Duncan and Speck would score back to back goals to put the Black Bears in front but the game was tied again after McGraw netted his second of the evening and 19th of the season. That set the stage for Janus’ game winner which helped Maryland finish off the sweep. Ryan Denes picked up the win in goal for Maryland as he made 25 saves. Carson Barnes suffered the loss in net as he had a 21 save performance.

Lone Star 4 @ Corpus Christi 2 - A three goal outburst in the second period helped the Lone Star Brahmas earn a series sweep over the Corpus Christi IceRays, winning 4-2 on Sunday. Ryan Comichock and Pierson Sobush went goal for goal in the first but then it was three straight Brahma tallies that set the tone for the rest of the game. Elias Kumlin, Owen Kerr and Leo Bergstrom all scored in a span of three and a half minutes to break the game open. Carter Krenke got the IceRays within two but that’s as close as they would get as the Lone Star defense held Corpus Christi to just 12 shots on goal in the final 40 minutes. Ryan Cameron was the winner in the blue paint as he made 22 saves. Waylon Esche was the loser with 15 stops.

Shreveport 4 @ Oklahoma 1 - Two goals from Bryce Boucher led the way for the Shreveport Mudbugs as they defeated the Oklahoma Warriors by a score of 4-1. David Ehrhard and Kyan Haldenby also got on the scoreboard for the Mudbugs. Mason Wright provided the only offense for Oklahoma. Nikola Goich was nearly perfect as he made 20 saves.
