Maryland Defenseman Lawson makes NCAA DI Commitment

The Maryland Black Bears of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that defenseman Aiden Lawson has committed to play NCAA Division I for University of Alaska Fairbanks.

The 5’8 blueliner is heading back to his home state to play with the Nanooks. Lawson is a first-year skater with the Black Bears. He has tallied two power play goals, made nine assists and currently holds a +3 rating on the season. Prior to playing on the Black Bears he spent two seasons with the Fox Motors Hockey Club in Michigan. Last season he scored six goals, made 43 assists over 73 games played.

The ‘07 lefty shares his excitement to join the Nanooks program.

“I am proud and honored to announce my commitment to play Division I hockey at the University of Fairbanks Alaska. I would like to thank my family, friends, coaches, advisors, teammates, and everyone who has pushed me along the way!” 

Head Coach of the Black Bears, Clint Mylymok, explains the organization’s excitement for Lawson's commitment.

“Aiden continues to progress every week, and this kid has the ability to bring you out of your seat every night. We are proud of Aiden and glad he has chosen Maryland as the place to continue his development. Congratulations to Aiden and his family.”

Lawson is the eleventh member of the Maryland Black Bears to make a Division I hockey college commitment.
