Wisconsin Defenseman Herres makes NCAA DI Commitment
The Wisconsin Windigo of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that defenseman Wyatt Herres has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for UMass Lowell in the Hockey East Association.
The 6’2 righty from the Badger state is in his first season with the Windigo. As one of the younger skaters in the league he has produced three assists over 24 games. Before playing with Wisconsin, he played nine games with Team Wisconsin in the Upper Midwest High School Elite Hockey League. In those nine games he found the back of the net once and produced two assists.
Herres shared his excitement and gratitude for his college commitment.
“I am greatly honored and excited to announce my commitment to play Division I hockey and further my education at UMass Lowell. I want to give a huge thanks to my family for all of the support and sacrifices along the way. I want to thank God for giving me this opportunity along with all of my coaches and friends who have helped me become the person and hockey player I am today!”
Assistant Coach of the Windigo, Bryce Reddick, shares more about his time spent with Herres.
“As an organization we are ecstatic for Wyatt. He is a work horse who shows up to the rink everyday to work on his craft. Umass-Lowell is not only getting a good hockey player but an exceptional human being. Wyatt is a joy to be around for us as a staff and I know his teammates love him as well. I am beyond excited to see where his hockey career takes him.”
Herres is the second member of the Wisconsin Windigo this season to make a Division I hockey college commitment.
