Saturday Scores: Steel Bounce Back
Oklahoma 4 @ Colorado 2 - The Oklahoma Warriors scored four unanswered goals to knock off the Colorado Grit by a score of 4-2. Luc Bydal and George Poirier scored in the opening minutes to give Colorado an early 2-0 lead. Sebastian Speck would net back-to-back goals to even the game heading into the final frame. Travis Bryson and Joey DeRosa would find the back of the net to give the Warriors the victory and a crucial two points in the standings. Kyle Jones was the winner in goal with 34 saves. Jack Erickson was dealt the loss as he stopped 36 shots.
Janesville 3 @ Chippewa 5 - The Chippewa Steel scored the final three goals of the night to help earn a split against the Janesville Jets, winning on Saturday by a score of 5-3. Ryder McIntosh scored twice while Matic Percic, Zach Sondreal and Hunter Whisenand all found the back of the net once for the Steel. Hans Hedlund, Jayar Leuke and John Brown provided the offense for Janesville. Carter Wishart got the win for Chippewa, making 24 saves. Matthew Alberti was saddled with the loss despite making 40 saves.
Odessa 3 @ Amarillo 1 - Charlie Smith had a goal and an assist to lead the Odessa Jackalopes to a 3-1 win over the Amarillo Wranglers. James Richman and Hunter Toms lit the lamp as well for Odessa in the victory while William Karphed stopped 28 of the 29 shots fired at him. Morley Phillips scored the lone goal for the Wranglers. Charlie Zolin and Charles-Antoine Girard combined to make 23 saves.
Shreveport 2 @ Corpus Christi 1 - The Shreveport Mudbugs earned a series split with the Corpus Christi IceRays as they doubled up the home squad 2-1. Andrej Patrick got the scoring started for the Mudbugs with his third of the season. In the second period, the Mudbugs would add on with Gleb Akimov scoring his eighth goal of the year. Stepan Kuznetsov brought the IceRays within one but it would not be enough as the Mudbugs would hang on to win. Nikola Goich was nearly perfect as he stopped 26 of the 27 shots he faced. Vlad Bryzgalov was stuck with the loss as he denied 32 of 34 opportunities.
