Maine 6 @ Elmira 2 - A five-goal third period helps the Maine Nordiques triumph over the Elmira Aviators Friday night, 6-2. The Aviators struck first, as Andrew Horn netted the lone goal of the first period. Shane Kozlina opened the middle frame with a goal to tie it up for the Nordiques, before Jett Otwell quickly regained the lead for Elmira. From there, it was all Maine as a combined effort from Usko Laaksonen, Laurent Trepanier, Michael Stenberg, and Joseph Gasperko saw the team net five straight to complete the comeback victory. Goaltender Matthew DellaRusso was spectacular in the crease, padding aside 33/35 in the win.
Danbury 4 @ Johnstown 1 - The Danbury Hat Tricks fended off the Johnstown Tomahawks en route to a 4-1 victory Friday night. Andrew Gibbons opened the game, scoring the lone goal of the first for Danbury. Kai Elkie then extended the Hat Tricks lead, as he hit the back of the net late in the second. Nick Jarmain looked to cut the lead in half, and did just that with an early third period goal to put Johnstown within one. However, Joey Anderson would quickly extend Danbury’s lead, before Gibbons would seal the deal late to win 4-1. Tyler Spokane was wonderful in net, saving 22/23.
New Jersey 5 @ Maryland 3 - The New Jersey Titans snuck away with a victory Friday night after a back-and-forth battle with the Maryland Black Bears. Josh Frenette netted the game’s first goal, with just 33 seconds remaining in the opening period to put Maryland up top. Lucas Marshall then scored early in the second, evening the score for New Jersey, before Riley Fast quickly regained the lead for the Black Bears. Alex Papaspyropoulos leveled the score, as the teams were tied at two apiece heading into the third. There, New Jersey would widen the gap with three-straight, courtesy of Ryan Novo, Kyle Kjm, and Papaspyropoulos. Aiden Lawson would attempt a comeback late for the Black Bears, but they would fall short by a final of 5-3.
New Hampshire 0 @ Rochester 2 - The Rochester Jr. Americans blanked the New Hampshire Mountain Kings 2-0 Friday night in a low-scoring affair. Landon Brownlee lit the lamp just 2:33 into the opening period, and fans wouldn’t see another one until just 4:36 remaining in the third, thanks to Jaden Dyke. In the end, Rochester’s defense prevailed and netminder Danick Leroux stood tall in goal to earn the 19-save shutout.
Philadelphia 1 @ Northeast 3 - The Northeast Generals capitalized twice on the powerplay en route to a 3-1 victory over the Philadelphia Rebels. Rich Rucireto lit the lamp halfway through the first to give Northeast the one goal advantage. From there, a pair of goals from Benjamin Campeau and Joseph McGraw would put the Generals up by three. Despite Hudson Weber-Stewart’s goal in the third to put Philadelphia within striking distance, Northeast would hang on to win. Goaltender Ryan Nolan stood solid in net, padding away 28/29 in the victory.
Wisconsin 7 @ Chippewa 2 - Despite getting outshot 30-26, the Wisconsin Windigo capitalized on key moments to cruise past the Chippewa Steel 7-2 Friday night. Lukas Bellinger got the action rolling with an early goal for the Steel. It wouldn’t be long before Ben Aucoin evened the score for the Windigo. Wisconsin came storing out of the gates in the second period, with goals from Samuel Misak, Beau Kralovec, Ronnie Hill, and Mario DiMaggio to take a convincing 5-1 lead. Declan Burns extended Wisconsin’s lead further, before Grant Denuccio attempted to minimize the lead for Chippewa. In the end, Burns sealed the deal, as his second of the game allowed the Windigo to triumph 7-2. Netminder Lucas Szyszka was outstanding, stopping 28.30 in the victory.
Minot 5 @ Minnesota M 1 - In the first, Adam Mahler scores for Minot with help from Jack O’Hanisain. O’Hanisain put another goal on the board assisted by Billy Batten and Jesse Juhola. Murray Marvin-Cordes increases Minot’s lead with a goal assisted by Hubert Clarke. O’Hanisain scores another goal with help from Juhola and Batten. During the second, Dakotah Bailey puts the Mallards on the board with an assist from Eli Bailey. Batten gets an unassisted goal for the Minotauros. The third period remained scoreless. Will Mizenko made 31 saves for Minot, while Zane Spaniol made 38 saves for Minnesota.
Anchorage 5 @ Janesville 4 (OT) - The Anchorage Wolverines got the period started early with an unassisted goal from Taisetu Ushio. The Jets' Jacob Eilers tied it up, assisted by Reese Lantz. In the second, Toby Carlson scored another goal for the Wolverines assisted by Brock Devlin and Daniel Bagnole. Trevor Aberwald tied up the game for Janesville assisted by Lantz. In the third, Jacob Bednarik scored an unassisted goal for Anchorage. Samuel Evert adds another goal for them with assists from Bagnole and Toby Carlson. Jayar Luedke scores an unassisted goal for the Jets. Rylan Brady scores another goal to tie it up for Janesville with help from Christian Venticinque. The Wolverines end it in overtime with a goal from Ushio assisted by Christian. Roberto Leonardo Henriquez made 19 saves for the Wolverines, while Matthew Alberti made 37 saves for the Jets.
Fairbanks 2 @ Springfield 5 - The first period remained scoreless. In the second, Springfield’s Jack Klevby scored with help from Andon Coles and Gaige Giblin. Logan Sutton added another goal for the Jr. Blues assisted by Conner Broadhead and Junsu Kwak. Jagur McClelland scored for the Blues unassisted. Brendan Gillmore put a goal on the board for the Ice Dogs with an assist from Adam Timm. Wyatt Carlson scored another goal for Fairbanks assisted by Justin Collins and Gage Leonard. During the third, Logan Ganz scored an unassisted goal for the Jr. Blues. McClelland scored another goal for Springfield with assists from Sutton and Ganz. Mason McElroy made 25 saves for the Fairbanks Ice Dogs and Frank Murphy made 33 saves for the Springfield Jr. Blues.
Austin 4 @ North Iowa 2 - In the first period, Alex Laurenza scored for the Bruins with help from Luc Malkhassian. In the second period, Malkhassian scored a goal assisted by EJ Paddington and Nathan Williams. Emil Samuelsson increased Austin’s lead assisted by Ludvig Mellgren. Connor Beckwith assisted by Malkhassian and Jackson Relei added another goal for the Bruins. During the third period, Eli Miller scored for North Iowa with help from Noah Diemer. Cole Wirun added one more goal for the Bulls assisted by Evan Johnson and Miller, but it wasn’t enough for the win. Jack Solomon made 24 saves for the Austin Bruins. Kyle Ozgun made 18 saves for the North Iowa Bulls and Jack Hirshorn made 8 saves for them as well.
Lone Star 1 @ Shreveport 2 (OT) - In the first period, Foster Nichol scored a goal for the Mudbugs assisted by Kyan Haldenby. Ryan Comishock scored a goal for the Brahmas to tie the game up assisted by Charlie Emmons and Saxton Tess. The second and third period remained scoreless. In overtime, Shreveport Mudbugs won it with a goal from Liam Fleet assisted by Carter McKay and Gleb Akimov. Jack Spicer made 27 saves for the Lone Star Brahmas and Nikola Goich made 20 saves for the Shreveport Mudbugs.
St. Cloud 3 @ Aberdeen 6 - During the first period, Cade Moxham scored for the Wings assisted by Nikolai Tishkevich and Nick Comfort. Ryan Flaherty added to Aberdeen’s lead with assists from Cooper Anderson and Joey Mugaas. In the second, Tishkevich scores a goal assisted by Elvic Laškovs and Flaherty. Mason LeBel puts the Norsemen on the board with a goal assisted by Wes Berg. Hudson Blue gets another goal for St. Cloud assisted by Tim Runtso. During the third period, Kyle Miller scores a goal early for the Norsemen assisted by LeBel. Luke Backel scored a goal for the Wings with help from Tishkevich and Moxham. Cole Saterdalen scored a goal for Aberdeen with assists from Leonid Bulgakov and Gavin Reed. Brady Estabrook adds one more goal assisted by Sebastian Lillsund and Comfort. Beck Liden made 28 saves for the St. Cloud Norsemen and Damon Cunningham made 18 saves for the Aberdeen Wings.
Watertown 3 @ Bismarck 5 - The Bismarck Bobcats claimed a win at home on Friday night over the Watertown Shamrocks. Bismarck’s Matthew Rafalski opened the night’s scoring with a goal just 39 seconds into the game. Rafalski struck again in the second period, extending Bismarck’s lead to 2-0 heading into the third. The third period saw the action heat up from both teams. Jack McMinn found the back of the net to put Watertown on the board, but Bismarck quickly retaliated with Kyle Doll (2) and Gabe Kenne netting a combined 3 goals in under a minute. Watertown fought back late in the third period with goals from Cam Markham and Owen Chartier. Carter Sproule assisted on all 3 of Watertown’s goals, but the comeback fell short as Bismarck held on for the 5-3 win.
Kenai River 4 @ Minnesota W 7 - The Minnesota Wilderness earned a high-scoring victory over the Kenai River Brown Bears. Tyler Webb opened the scoring for the Wilderness in the first period, giving them a 1-0 lead heading into the second. The Wilderness took control early in the second period with goals from Zach Homer and Drew Beasley. The Brown Bears responded as Gavin Jensen and Jack Clarke found the back of the net. Minnesota retaliated back later in the period with Brady Zugec capitalizing on a power play making the score 4-2. The third period saw a lot of back and forth scoring from both teams. Clarke netted his second goal of the night for Kenai River, but the Wilderness answered back 31 seconds later with Noah Dziver scoring, followed by a goal from Ben Roulette. Clarke completed a hat trick later on in the period to pull the Brown Bears closer, but Zach Howard sealed the game for Minnesota with an empty net goal bringing the final score to 7-4.
Corpus Christi 5 @ Odessa 4 (OT) - The Corpus Christi IceRays claimed a victory over the Odessa Jackalopes in a back-and-forth thriller. The Jackalopes struck first with Charlie Smith netting a goal early in the first period, but the IceRays responded back quickly with back-to-back goals from Cooper Conway and Nikita Konevych. Odessa regained momentum in the second period with a power-play goal from Nick Metelkin. A few minutes later James Richman found the back of the net on a shorthanded goal to help the Jackalopes reclaim the lead. Late in the period, Corpus Christi capitalized on the power play, with Conway tying the game for the second time before Matthew Soderbom netted a goal to give the IceRays a 4-3 lead heading into the third. Odessa’s Kowin Belsterling found the back of the net midway through the third to tie things up again, sending the game to overtime. Just 34 seconds into the extra period, Michael Valdez netted the game-winner for Corpus Christi, sealing their 5-4 victory.
Colorado 3 @ New Mexico 0 - The Colorado Grit shut out the New Mexico Ice Wolves Friday night, earning a 3-0 victory on the road. After a scoreless first period, Colorado kicked off the scoring midway through the second as George Poirier found the back of the net off assists from Lucas Mann and Ben Rakowski. The Grit added to their lead later in the period with a goal from Kennan Reyelts, and Lucas Bydall struck again for Colorado just before the buzzer, with Mann picking up his second assist of the night. Colorado’s Jackson Erickson stopped all 28 shots he faced to earn a shutout, while New Mexico’s Gavin Schahn saved 18 out of the 21 shots he faced.
Amarillo 2 @ El Paso 5 - The El Paso Rhinos skated to a decisive 5-2 victory over the Amarillo Wranglers on home ice. In the first period, the Rhinos struck early, with Ben Norris opening the scoring, assisted by Tyler Kedzo. Amarillo responded later in the period as Noah Ribeiro found the back of the net, evening the score at 1-1. The second period saw the Rhinos take control. Roope Tuomioksa put El Paso ahead, with Kyle Arias and A.J. Reed earning assists. The Wranglers briefly answered on the power play with Morley Phillips capitalizing, assisted by Salvatore Cerrato and Trace Day. However, the Rhinos regained the lead when Paavo Hiltunen buried one, with Tuomioksa and Arias again on the assists. El Paso carried their momentum into the final period, extending their lead with Owen ORear’s goal, set up by Norris and Kedzo. The Rhinos ended off their dominant performance with Duke Gentzler’s empty-net goal, assisted by Arias, sealing the 5-2 victory.
