Wisconsin Forward Richardson makes NCAA DI Commitment
The Wisconsin Windigo of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Teddy Richardson has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for University of Alaska Fairbanks.
Coming from the “Show Me State” is the 6’1 righty, Teddy Richardson. The 18-year-old has put together six goals, seven assists and a +5 rating this season. This is his second season in the NAHL. Last season, he was with the North Iowa Bulls and found the back of the net four times while making an assist 10 times over 35 games.
Richardson shared what his college recruitment process looked liked with the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
“I talked to them at the showcase, which was nice. It was nice to see face, talk, and meet the coach. Super great staff. There's nothing better than talking to coaches that makes it known that they like you and they want you to play for them.”
Richardson continued and explained a little bit more behind his reasoning in choosing the program.
“I really like the school. It will be a cool experience to live in Alaska. It’s hard to pass something like that off. [...] It gives me the opportunity to really focus on hockey.”
Head coach of the Windigo, John Mitchell, shares how Ted will fit into the University of Alaska Fairbanks program.
“Wisconsin could not be more excited for Ted. He’s been an integral part of this year's success. Over the past couple years we’ve cultivated a good working relationship with Alaska and understand the type of player they are looking for. We think Ted accurately embodies that mold.”
This season, Richardson is the first member of the Wisconsin Windigo to make a Division I hockey college commitment.
