Corpus Christi Goaltender Volsky makes NCAA DI Commitment
The Corpus Christi IceRays of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that goaltender Nikita Volsky has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Lake Superior State University in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association.
The 20-year-old from Belarus is in his first season in the NAHL. Volsky is a dominant force in the net. Out of the 15 wins that the Icerays have on the season, 14 of those wins came with Volsky as the goaltender. Also, he is tied second in the league with those 14 wins.
The Belarus native ranks near the top of all goaltenders in the league. His goals against average (1.91) is ranked sixth overall, while his save percentage (.937) is ranked fourth overall.
The 6’2 netminder shares how he feels joining the Lakers next season.
“I am incredibly proud and honored to announce my commitment to play Division I hockey and to continue my education at Lake Superior State University. I want to express my deepest gratitude to my parents, coaches, teammates, and everyone who has supported me on this journey.”
Head coach of the Corpus Christi IceRays, Sylvain Cloutier, shares his excitement for Volsky.
“I’m so proud of all the hard work he’s put in. His dedication and drive have truly paid off. He’s earned this opportunity. I can’t wait to see all the great things he will accomplish at the next level.”
