Maryland Forward Stern makes NCAA DI Commitment
The Maryland Black Bears of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Tyler Stern has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Tennessee State University.
The 5’10 righty from Plainview, New York is in his fourth season in the NAHL. He joined the Blacks Bears last season through a trade from his former squad, the Philadelphia Rebels. So far this season, he has found the back of the net five times, produced 11 assists and have a +2 rating on the season.
Stern shares his excitement in joining the new program in Division I hockey.
“I’m excited and honored to announce my commitment to play Division I hockey at Tennessee State University. I would like to thank my friends, teammates, coaches, and most importantly my family for helping me get to this point.”
Head coach of the Maryland Black Bears, Clint Mylymok, shares about the impact Tyler has had inside the locker room and on the ice.
“When building a brand new program, you need to surround yourself with “team first” players, and natural born leaders. Tyler personifies all of that and more. It is a great opportunity to help build a new program and I know Sterny will take on all challenges and help build that program on and off the ice. Congratulations to Tyler and his family. This is well deserved.”
Stern is the third player this month on the Maryland Black Bears to commit to play Division I hockey.
