Lone Star Forward Cappello makes NCAA DI Commitment
The Lone Star Brahmas of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Anthony Cappello has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Niagara University in the ACHA.
The 6’4 lefty leads the Brahmas with 10 goals and 16 points. Cappello is currently in his sophomore season with Lone Star. He previously committed to American International College this past year, however, after the news that the Yellow Jackets will move down to Division II, Cappello decided to decommit. After decommitting from AIC, he got an offer from Niagara. The New York native explained his reason and inspiration for heading to the Purple Eagles.
“We had previously had two guys there that played on the Lone Star Brahmas. It was a huge factor in choosing Niagara. They were great guys, great players. I feel like the culture and Niagara would be perfect for me,” said Cappello.
“We are really proud of Cappello getting a Division I scholarship,” said Lone Star’s head coach, Dan Wildfong. “He has great numbers so far and he will be a great college player.”
Cappello is one of seven players to commit to play Division I college hockey on the Lone Star Brahmas.
