Sunday Wrap Up: Anchorage, Northeast Complete Sweeps
Maine 1 @ Northeast 2 - The Northeast Generals faced off in a close matchups against the Maine Nordiques Sunday evening. The Generals opened the scoring midway through the first period with Joseph McGraw netting a goal. In the second period, the Nordiques tied the game with a powerplay goal from Laurent Trepanier with 7:37 on the clock. Finnegan Connor found the back of the net early on in the third to secure the Generals 2-1 win over the Nordiques. Between the two Nordiques goaltenders they saved 22 out of the 24 shots they faced in the loss, while Ryan Nolan of the Generals made an impressive 51 saves out of the 52 shots he faced.
Springfield 5 @ Anchorage 6 - The Anchorage Wolverines claimed a victory at home in a high scoring matchup against the Springfield Jr. Blues. The Jr. Blues kicked off the scoring in the first period with Aidan Hickok finding the back of the net. A few minutes later into the period Springfield’s Logan Sutton netted back to back goals. The Wolverines made an attempt to retaliate with a goal from Cole Frawner. Logan Ganz scored the final goal of the period for the Jr. Blues making the score 3-1 heading into the second period. Springfield opened the scoring in the second period with Junsu Kwak netting a goal just 30 seconds in. Later on in the period, Anchorage put two more goals up on the board with Brock Devlin and Taisetsu Ushio each scoring. The Wolverines were dominant in the third period with Ushio, Samuel Evert, and Jason Bourdukofsky all finding the back of the net to give Anchorage a 6-5 win over Springfield.
