Chippewa Forward Ligi makes NCAA DI Commitment
The Chippewa Steel of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) is proud to announce that forward Jacob Ligi has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Army West Point in the Atlantic.
The ‘04 second-year veteran leads the Steel in points (20) and assists (15). Earlier this season, he was named September’s Bauer Hockey Forward of the Month. In September he tallied four goals and nine assists over seven games. He was September’s leading scorer in the NAHL.
“It was an easy decision to commit to Army. It is an excellent place to continue to develop as a player and continue to play hockey,” said Ligi. “It is also an amazing spot to get a great education and set myself up for the future after hockey.”
Head coach of the Steel, Chirs Ratzloff shares how they “are very excited for the opportunity Jacob has with West Point, not only for college hockey but also for his future. Jacob has grown as a leader on and off the ice, taking a big step in the second half of last season and continuing on that path this year.” Ratzloff continued and said “Jacob is a first-class person who makes those around him better. We look forward to his continued success in the remainder of the season and at West Point.”
Ligi is the fourth player to commit to play Division I Hockey on the Steel this season.
