Nordiques forward Wongus makes NCAA DI Commitment

October 18, 2024

The Maine Nordiques of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Ethan Wongus has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Tennessee State University.

Wongus, 20, is an NAHL veteran playing his third season of junior hockey, his first season with the Nordiques after spending two years with the New Jersey Titans. With a total of 120 games played to date, the Edmonton, AB native has tallied 66 points (26 goals, 40 assists). So far with the Nords, Wongus has come out the gates flying as an over a point per game player and 2nd overall leading scorer for Maine with 14 points (5 goals, 9 assists), including three goals on the powerplay.

“Ethan, a newcomer, was a player we had our eyes on dating back to last fall while he was in New Jersey. We knew he would be a top performer in the division this year and we have been blessed with his presence since his arrival via trade,” stated Nordiques Head Coach Nick Skerlick. “We could not be happier for Ethan and his family, as well as a determined coach Abercrombie who is looking to make TSU’s first season a special one. Congrats to TSU and the Wongus family.”

Wongus is the 2nd player to commit for the Nordiques this season.
