Generals Captain Campeau makes NCAA DI Commitment

October 8, 2024

The Northeast General, proud members of the North American Hockey League, are excited to announce that Captain Ben Campeau has committed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey for the University of Alaska - Anchorage.

Ben, the Captain of the Northeast Generals, is in his 2nd season in Northeast.  During the 2023-24 season Campeau made his mark both on the scoresheet and in the locker room.  Ben put up 16 goals and 16 assists for 32 points.  But it was all of the little things Ben did away from the puck that made him special.  He won 62% of his faceoffs and was a force on the penalty kill.

Ben has started the 2024-25 season on fire. In 9 games, Ben has 8 goals and 7 assists for 15 points.  He currently leads the entire NAHL in goals and points.  At the Blaine Showcase where the lights are the brightest, Ben played inspired hockey leading the Generals to a 2-1 record while recording 5 goals in the 3 games to garner very heavy Division 1 interest.

“Ben is an amazing young man.  I knew in October of last year that he would be our Captain this year.  He is just that type of kid that oozes leadership.  He was so good for us last year and got better and more productive as the year went on.  As a Coach to have a player you trust to put on the ice in every single situation is such a luxury.  He can take every important face-off, match up against others top lines, play 200 feet and just do all of the little things well and he can score.  He works so hard and is such a tremendous role model to the younger players.  I feel very fortunate to get to Coach Ben and can’t wait to see what he does for us the rest of this year.  I am excited that Ben earned this opportunity and I know he will have a ton of success for the Alaska-Anchorage program.  They are getting a special person and player.”  Said Northeast Generals Head Coach and GM Bryan Erikson.

Ben Campeau added “I’m excited to commit to playing Division 1 hockey and furthering my education at the University of Alaska Anchorage. There are a ton of people who have made it possible for me to get to this point. My parents have given me every opportunity and fully supported me in chasing my dreams. My brother has always pushed me and given me someone to compete with; I wouldn’t be here today without him. Many coaches have helped me, but the biggest step in this journey was coming to the NAHL and joining the Northeast Generals. There’s no organization, coaching staff or team I’d rather spend my last two years of junior hockey playing for. Bryan Erickson has built a culture in Northeast based on hard work and dedication that I’m proud to be a part of and makes every day at the rink enjoyable. I’ve never played for a coach as honest and straightforward as Bryan. He tells you how it is, but most of all, he cares about every individual in the room. Finally, I couldn’t have done it without all my teammates, who I’ve been lucky enough to play with from Kingston to Kemptville to Northeast.”
