Black Bears veteran Johnson makes NCAA DIII Commitment
The Maryland Black Bears of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that veteran Trayce Johnson has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Trine University in the MIAA.
Johnson, 21, suited up for 168 games with the Maryland Black Bears, including back to back trips to the Robertson Cup in Blaine, Minnesota. Throughout his three seasons in the NAHL, the Toledo, OH native tallied 46 points (10 goals, 36 assists), in addition to maintaining a plus-minus of +29 during the 2023-24 season.
As a veteran defenseman for Maryland, Johnson was selected to represent the East Division at the 2024 Top Prospects Tournament.
Similar to teammate Keaton Lipsett, the 6’0” blueliner spent time in the NAPHL with the Tri-State Spartans at the 18U level, appearing in 25 games.
Johnson is the 16th player to commit for the Black Bears this season.
