Black Bears goaltender Ronan makes NCAA DI Commitment
The Maryland Black Bears of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that goaltender Colin Ronan has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Lindenwood University.
Ronan, 21, played his final year of junior hockey with the Maryland Black Bears, appearing in 29 games, posting a 17-6-2-1 record. With 615 saves on the season, the Saugus, MA native maintained a goals against average of 2.35 and a save percentage of .907. Of his 17 wins, the 6’3” netminder was able to post three shutouts.
From December through January, Ronan posted four back to back wins, allowing two goals or less in each contest.
“Colin is an outstanding human being, who showed all year that he is not only talented, but also a great teammate. He knew how to keep the boys loose, but when he got between the pipes, he showed his competitive side,” stated Black Bears Head Coach Clint Mylymok. “This kid battled through adversity all year and never complained or made excuses. He just kept working and his 17 wins is the third most in a single season in MBB history. We will miss seeing Colin in Maryland, and wish him all the best at Lindenwood. He deserves this opportunity and we could not be prouder.”
Ronan is the 17th player to commit for the Black Bears this season and will be one of eight incoming freshmen with NAHL ties for the Lions.
