Warriors forward Nelson makes NCAA DI Commitment
The Oklahoma Warriors of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that defenseman Kaden Nelson has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Michigan State University in the Big 10.
Nelson, 20, is a two-year NAHL player, appearing in 118 games with the Warriors, 12 of which being Robertson Cup Playoff games, where the Duluth, MN native was crowned a 2023-2024 Robertson Cup Champion.
Throughout his time in Oklahoma, Nelson tallied 72 points (32 goals, 40 assists), including 4 game winning goals, 7 powerplay goals and 2 shorthanded goals. As the second leading scorer for the Warriors this season, Nelson recorded 2 or more points in a single game on 16 separate occasions.
With his best year being the 2023-2024 season, Nelson was selected to represent the South Division at the 2024 Top Prospects Tournament.
“Kaden is an exceptional human and a very skilled hockey player. He’s an ultimate competitor, a champion and has excelled at every level he’s been at. Coming to Oklahoma last year, I had the privilege of working with Kaden for the first time and was able to see his growth and get to know him on a personal level,” stated Warriors Head Coach Nate Weossner. “Garrett Roth, Wade Chiodo and his teammates have been influential on his path and Kaden stayed steadfast throughout his process on getting his opportunity to play division 1 hockey. We are proud of what Kaden brought to our organization and we are all excited to follow everything he will bring to Michigan State.”
Nelson is the 14th player to commit for the Warriors this season.
