Lone Star forward MacDonald makes NCAA DI Commitment
The Lone Star Brahmas of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Jacob MacDonald has announced he has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for UMass-Lowell in the Hockey East Conference.
MacDonald, 19, is amidst his 2nd full season in the NAHL, both with the Brahmas. The Fort Worth, Texas native debuted with Lone Star in the 2021-22 campaign, tallying an assist in 5 games played as a call-up from the Dallas Stars Elite 18U team. Jacob went on to play 44 games in the following season, logging 5 goals and 11 assists in those games. He also dished an assist in five Robertson Cup playoff games.
“I am extremely proud and honored to announce my commitment to play Division 1 hockey and further my education at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell. I would like to thank my parents, coaches, teammates and everyone who has helped me along the way,” said MacDonald.
This season MacDonald has stepped up his production and produced at nearly a point-per-game pace; in 44 regular season games, he accumulated 22 goals and 19 assists. He also has been a key part of Lone Star’s early success in the 2024 Robertson Cup playoffs, recording 6 points (2 goals, 4 assists) in 6 games.
MacDonald was selected to participate in the 2024 Top Prospects Tournament, where he represented Team South. He becomes the 10th Brahma heading to play Division I hockey in the future. He joins five other NAHLers set to play at UMass-Lowell under head coach Norm Bazin.
